The 9th Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day Parade will take place in downtown Texarkana on Monday, January 20, 2025, beginning at 11:30 a.m. Sponsored by Bridging The Gap Arkansas, this year’s parade is set to celebrate unity and community under the theme, “We Are Better Together.”

Organizers are encouraging local groups, businesses, and individuals to take part in the parade, with entries still being accepted. The event is an opportunity to honor Dr. King’s message of equality, peace, and togetherness while bringing the Texarkana community together for a day of celebration.

Following the parade, festivities will continue at Front Street Plaza with live music, food from local vendors, and activities for all ages. The day promises to be a lively and meaningful celebration of Dr. King’s enduring legacy.

“This year’s theme, ‘We Are Better Together,’ emphasizes the importance of unity in our community,” said a spokesperson for Bridging The Gap Arkansas. “We invite everyone to join us as we come together to reflect on Dr. King’s vision of equality, justice, and peace.”

The public is encouraged to come out, enjoy the parade, and take part in the celebrations throughout the day. For more information or to add an entry to the parade, please call 903.417.2342 or 903.908.9754.

Make plans to be part of this impactful event on Monday, January 20, and celebrate the power of community in downtown Texarkana.

After more than 40 years with commercial broadcasting, I decided to do my own thing by blogging, and taking "unconsultant" gigs. It affords me the ability to stay super involved in the community, but still, have plenty of time with my 3 granddaughters and other projects.
