September 9 has officially been “National Teddy Bear Day”. Do you know how the Teddy Bear came to be? It’s a pretty interesting story.
I check the “National Day Calendar” every day, habit.
September 9 is National Teddy Bear Day. (I have one little granddaughter that loves Care Bears… LOVES them)!
The story is that back in 1902 Theodore Roosevelt refused to shoot a bear cub on a hunting trip in Mississippi. Some made sport of him, but a guy by the name of Morris Mitchum asked for the President’s permission to create a new toy for children, with Roosevelt’s okay, the Teddy Bear became a childhood friend to kids worldwide.
Like I said, one of my little granddaughters is ALL about the Care Bears, and I think that is awesome. The Care Bears came along in the ’80s to teach kids basic kindness to one another, and are still in business today.
September 9 is also “Care Bears Share Your Care Day“. The day is to inspire giving and volunteering. Care Bears have taught kids to share feelings and care for others since the early ’80s. They are all about love, sharing with, and caring for others.
