A number of businesses in the past few days have been targets of attempted phone scams in which the caller claims to be with SWEPCO and demands payment by phone or power will be cut off in 30 minutes. This is a SCAM!
The businesses contacted in the scam attempts all claim the number used in the attempts came up on caller ID as 888-328-8330,
SWEPCO has been contacted and confirms that it is a scam in an attempt to gain credit card information and the number does not match their billing service.
