Texarkana Police Seeing More and More Cases of Fake ‘Movie Money’

The Texarkana Texas Police Department is warning members of the community to remain vigilant in accepting large bills as they are seeing more and more cases of people passing fake “Movie Money”.

    Media Release:

Even though we’ve made several arrests over the last few weeks when people have tried to make purchases using “motion picture” money, we continue to see it almost on a daily basis right now. Businesses, restaurants, and individuals have all been the victim of this fake money in Texarkana.

Despite what you see on television, most counterfeit money is not very sophisticated and it’s actually not hard at all to spot. You want to take just a couple extra seconds to double check the money that you get to make sure that it is legitimate. A sure way to recognize it is to look for the words “For Motion Picture Use Only” on the bills. They also don’t usually have the same feel of a regular bill when you hold it.

If someone tries to give you one of these bills, don’t accept it. Call 9-1-1 immediately. If they try to leave before we get there, it would be great if you were able to give the dispatcher a description of the person and their vehicle to help us locate them.

After more than 40 years with commercial broadcasting, I decided to do my own thing by blogging, and taking "unconsultant" gigs. It affords me the ability to stay super involved in the community, but still, have plenty of time with my 3 granddaughters and other projects.
