Two of our three favorite area chili cook-offs happen this weekend in Texarkana. First, the annual “Bridge City Project Chili Cook-off” on Friday the 29th. Second, the “Best Chili in Texarkana Chili Cook-off” at the Sportsplex on Saturday the 30th.
Friday, January 30 in downtown Texarkana from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm it is the Bridge City Project Chili Cook-off to benefit the Texarkana Homeless Coalition. The annual event is held in the lot across the street from the Salvation Army office on 3rd and Hazel Streets. Funds raised through this event will be used to coordinate homeless services, fund scholarships, and provide educational opportunities. The theme for this year is “Sports”! Added for 2021 a “Restaurant Class” for any local eateries that want some bragging rights and hardware to go with it. There will be four categories for this year with lots of great prizes, Best in Theme SPORTS TEAMS, Best Taste in Texarkana, People’s Choice, and Top Restaurant (New this year)
There will also be raffle drawings, live music, and more for this fun event.
On Saturday, January 30 at the Sportsplex at Richmond Road and Moores Lane from 12 noon to 3:00 pm it is “Texarkana’s Best Chili Cook-off” with some big money prizes. This event will raise funds for the Friends for a Cause Foundation. (this event will take place at the Sportsplex, rain or shine)
There will be cash prizes awarded to the first, second, and third-place winner, as well as a crowd favorite winner voted on by the public. The first-place winner will also choose to which charity Friends for a Cause will donate 1,000 dollars. Attendees will also have a chance to win awesome door prizes and giveaways, so don’t miss it!
