A missing teenager at the center of an Amber Alert out of Brownwood, Texas, has been safely recovered thanks to the quick action of the Hooks Police Department.
On July 9, Hooks officers conducted a traffic stop on a white Mercury sedan traveling along Interstate 30. The vehicle matched the description listed in the Amber Alert issued for 15-year-old Dahlia Creek, who had reportedly been abducted in Brownwood, over five hours away from Texarkana.
According to authorities, Creek was last seen wearing a black hoodie, a red scarf, black pants, and carrying a multicolored backpack. The alleged suspect, who was behind the wheel of the vehicle, was immediately taken into custody by Hooks police.
Arrangements are currently being made to return Creek to her home and family in Brownwood.
This case serves as a reminder of the vital role the public can play in responding to Amber Alerts. Even hours and hundreds of miles away from where a child disappears, your attentiveness could save a life.
Further details on the suspect’s identity and potential charges have not yet been released.
