A multi-agency operation led by the 8th South Drug Task Force resulted in the seizure of 15 pounds of methamphetamine and the arrests of two individuals connected to a drug trafficking operation bringing narcotics into the region from California.
The investigation began on February 28, 2025, when the 8th South Drug Task Force received intelligence about an incoming shipment of meth. In collaboration with the 8th North Drug Task Force, 9th West Drug Task Force, and the local Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) office, authorities launched a multi-day operation to intercept the narcotics.
On March 5, 2025, investigators identified the delivery location in Hope, Arkansas. Once the narcotics were delivered, law enforcement, including the Hempstead County Sheriff’s Office, executed a search warrant at the residence of Prince Thomas. During the search, officers seized 12 pounds of methamphetamine.
The investigation continued, and on March 11, 2025, the 8th South Drug Task Force and the FBI intercepted another shipment of methamphetamine destined for the Texarkana area. Officers recovered an additional 3 pounds of meth and $2,310 in drug money. As a result of the operation, Anthony Thomas of Hope, Arkansas, was taken into custody.
Local law enforcement officials, including Chief Ed Chattaway, Sheriff Wayne Easley, Sheriff Jeff Black, and 8th South Prosecutor Connie Mitchell, reaffirmed their commitment to supporting the 8th South Drug Task Force in its mission to combat illegal narcotics.
Authorities emphasize that their efforts to disrupt drug trafficking in the community will continue as they work to eliminate dangerous narcotics from the streets.
