    Boil Order for Texarkana Has Been Lifted

    0
    By Jeff Easterling on March 17, 2020 City News

    The order to boil water before consumption has been lifted and is now safe by standards set by TCEQ. The city has set standards for retail food establishments. It may be a good idea to do these things at home also.

    Media Release:

    Boil Water Notice Rescinded

    March 17, 2020

    On Sunday, March 15, 2020, the Arkansas Department of Health (ADH) and the Texarkana Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) required the Texarkana Water Utilities Public Water System (PWS ID# Arkansas 360, Texas 0190004), to issue a Boil Water Notice to inform customers, individuals, or employees that due to conditions which occurred recently in the public water system, the water from this public water system was required to be boiled prior to use for drinking water or human consumption purposes.

    The public water system has taken the necessary corrective actions to restore the quality of the water distributed by this public water system used for drinking water or human consumption purposes and has provided ADH and TCEQ with laboratory test results that indicate that the water no longer requires boiling prior to use as of March 17, 2020.
    If you have questions concerning this matter, you may contact Rick Barton, Water Production Manager and/or Robert Bean, Laboratory Supervisor (903) 798 3850.

    Before a retail food establishment in Texarkana Texas can start serving the public after a boil order has been rescinded they must…

    • Flush pipes / faucets for at least 5 minutes;
    • Flush, clean and sanitize equipment with water line connections according to manufacturer’s
      directions
    • Flush drinking water fountains for at least 5 minutes.
    • Clean and sanitize the ice machine. Discard the first batch of new ice.

    After more than 40 years with commercial broadcasting, I decided to do my own thing by blogging, and taking "unconsultant" gigs. It affords me the ability to stay super involved in the community, but still, have plenty of time with my 3 granddaughters and other projects.
