Buddy Allen has resigned as Chairman of the Texarkana Arkansas A&P Commission amid recent controversies surrounding practices of the group in the distribution of the City’s Advertising and Promotion tax revenues
(This information was submitted to Texarkana FYI, after close of business so we were unable to get comments or any additional information from city officials regarding Mr. Allen’s resignation.)
In a letter of resignation that Buddy Allen submitted to the City Finance Director, TyRhonda Henderson, Mr. Allen stated:
It is my opinion that over the last few months we, as a Commission, have morphed into a fragmented team that is forced to take necessary actions that are emotionally charged and externally influenced. This business model will not allow me to perform a service to the citizens of Texarkana, AR consistent with my personal standards. Further, I am convinced that any productive efforts on my part, to improve the conduct of business by the Commission, will exacerbate the current situation. Therefore, I am resigning my position.
