A shooting in East Texas has left one person dead and another critically injured, prompting a manhunt for the suspect identified as Malaki Scott Beckham. The incident occurred on Saturday evening around 5:42 p.m. in the 300 block of North Lindsey Street, according to the New Boston Police Department.
Authorities reported that two individuals were shot during the incident. One victim succumbed to their injuries at the scene, while the other was rushed to a local hospital with life-threatening wounds. As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the shooting.
Law enforcement officials have detained one individual related to the incident and have identified Beckham as the primary suspect. A capital murder warrant has been issued for his arrest. Reports indicate Beckham fled the scene in a vehicle belonging to the deceased victim, which was later found at a residence on Peggy Street in New Boston.
Beckham is described as 5′9″ tall, weighing approximately 140 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. Authorities have advised that he should be considered armed and dangerous.

Multiple agencies, including the Texas Department of Public Safety, Bowie County Sheriff’s Office, and De Kalb Police Department, are assisting in the search for Beckham. They have conducted searches of residences and the surrounding area.
