The Junior League of Texarkana has partnered with Union Elementary to promote literacy with their “Spring into Reading” program scheduled for March 15.

    Press Release:

Spring Into Reading: Thursday, March 15, 2018 12:45pm Union Elementary
R-E-A-D! In an effort to encourage school-aged children to develop a greater interest in reading,
the Junior League of Texarkana has partnered with Union Elementary to promote literacy. 302
students enjoy a day that is all about reading, beginning with a “Spring into Reading” pep rally,
motivational speeches from coaches and athletes who also reveal their favorite books, and the
afternoon is spent reading with Junior League volunteers and students from area high schools.
Every child goes home with a backpack and new books! As they say, “Reading is Fundamental”
and who doesn’t enjoy a great book!
The Junior League of Texarkana would like to thank OUR Community Partners, Texarkana
College, Texarkana Public Library, Ark-Tex Council of Governments and SportsMagic for their
    support with this community project.

After more than 40 years with commercial broadcasting, I decided to do my own thing by blogging, and taking "unconsultant" gigs. It affords me the ability to stay super involved in the community, but still, have plenty of time with my 3 granddaughters and other projects.
