In what is being reported as nothing less than a tragic accident, an 11-year-old Texarkana boy was struck and killed by a vehicle in the 6700 block of University Avenue.

    TTPD Reports:

On July 26th at 4:33 PM officers were dispatched to a report of a major crash at a residence in the 6700 block of University Ave.

Upon an investigation it was determined a 2014 Dodge Ram 2500 driven by a 19 year old male of Texarkana, Texas was traveling on University Ave. The driver was a friend of the family and was returning an 18 year old to the home. The driver turned into the residence and didn’t see an 11 year old male sitting on a skate board in the driveway. The truck ran over the 11 year old before coming to a stop. The 11 year old was transported to a local hospital, but later died as a result of his injuries.

No charges are pending against the driver and no citations were issued.

After more than 40 years with commercial broadcasting, I decided to do my own thing by blogging, and taking "unconsultant" gigs. It affords me the ability to stay super involved in the community, but still, have plenty of time with my 3 granddaughters and other projects.
