Our friends with Garrett’s Sporting Goods will be hosting world-class bladesmiths from television shows “Forged in Fire” and “Man Vs. History” on Friday at 4:00 pm at Naaman’s BBQ on Stateline Avenue.

Ricardo Vilar, “Forged in Fire” winner and show Judge for the South America show will be there with blades he has created, including his winning Ikakalaka ax. Ricardo is very well known in his home country of Brazil, and the designs of his knives are valued the world over.

One of the most famous bladesmiths of today is Jerry Fisk, from “Man Vs. History”, Jerry will also be there to meet with people and discuss his blades and the art of bladesmithing, and how easy it is for you to give it a try with local programs these men offer with support and instruction. Mark Fleming, also fresh off of “Man Vs. History” is also Arkansas’ cutting champion and will be doing a cutting demonstration.

This event is scheduled from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Naaman’s BBQ on North Stateline. The gentlemen will have many of their creations on display. For more information visit the FACEBOOK EVENT PAGE.

Ricardo not only is renowned for the artistic pieces he creates, but also for his functional works. Check out this demonstration of one of his creations, the “Machado Harpia”…

After more than 40 years with commercial broadcasting, I decided to do my own thing by blogging, and taking "unconsultant" gigs. It affords me the ability to stay super involved in the community, but still, have plenty of time with my 3 granddaughters and other projects.
