A little after 8:00 am this morning, Nash City Fire Marshal Steve Rogers was injured when a pistol he was carrying discharged, striking him in the leg. Rogers was transported to the hospital in a private vehicle where he was treated and released.
We spoke to Nash City Administrator, Doug Bowers and he told us,
Fire Marshal Rogers was off duty when the incident occurred, he was actually out making Rotary Club rounds picking up flags. He had just stopped by the city offices to visit and his pistol discharged as he was getting out of his vehicle. It is my understanding that the bullet struck him just above the knee and exited out of the skin and didn’t really do any real damage. He’s blessed that it was just a flesh wound and he’s gonna be fine.
