Texarkana, Texas Mayor Bob Bruggeman and Texarkana, Arkansas Mayor Allen Brown presented a proclamation “Dr. Otis Williams Day” in Texarkana for the hometown native and founder of the iconic group, the Temptations.
A large crowd gathered this afternoon at the historic Perot Theatre in downtown Texarkana, to dedicate a mural of Dr. Otis Williams, native of Texarkana, Texas, and founder of Motown icons, the Temptations.
Both mayors presented proclamations to Williams naming January 18, 2024, officially “Dr. Otis Williams Day” in Texarkana, USA. The rest of the group was present for the ceremony, lead vocalist Ron Tyson, Terry Weeks, Tony Grant, Jawan Jackson, and of course, group founder, Otis Williams. The Williams family was able to be present, along with many adoring fans of the multi-grammy award-winning group. The Temptations will be performing at the Perot Theatre on Friday, January 19. The vision for the mural has been years in the making. Ms. Darlene went through more than 20 different designs before receiving approval for the painting as it is now. She spent two months sweating, freezing, and always painting, and we think the results are awesome.
