T.A.P.D. Enjoys Great Success with 2017 PRIDE Academy [VIDEO]

Now in its sixth year, the annual TAPD Pride Academy with more than 140 students and 50 peer coaches has been the largest group to date, and the fun was even bigger!

The Texarkana Arkansas Police Department hosts the annual week-long program with incoming fifth graders at College Hill Middle School. TAPD officers act as coaches for teams of students throughout the week. Students learn better decision-making skills, increased self-esteem, anger management exercises, and coping techniques for many different situations that the children will face.

On behalf of the Texarkana Arkansas Police Department, we would like to thank everyone who played a part in making PRIDE Academy 2017 a success. It was a great week of learning, laughing, and love. We are so very proud of our new recruits and of all their accomplishments. TAPD is thankful for the opportunity of building life long relationships with the youth of our community.

After more than 30 years with radio and TV stations, I decided to do my own thing by blogging. It affords me the ability to stay super involved in the community, but still, have plenty of time with my 3 new granddaughters and other local projects.
