TTPD Media Release:
Our Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team recently completed a unique week-long training event at Fort Hood in Killeen, Texas. During the extended training event, the eighteen member team trained in the planning and carrying out of hostage rescues, barricaded persons, and high risk arrests operations.
Lieutenant Mike Jones, the team’s tactical commander said, “This was an extraordinary training opportunity for us. The facilities that we were able to use there are far superior to anything that we have access to locally.”
The team was able to use a live fire shoot house, which is a building specially designed to absorb bullets allowing more realistic training, a mock city with commercial and residential buildings, and a leadership course intended to build team cohesion while developing leadership and problem solving skills.
We are very appreciative of Fort Hood for making their facilities and this training opportunity available to our officers.
