From the Donation Page:
Ady is in need of a D.A.D. (Diabetic Alert Dog) not a Daddy. She has a Daddy, Momma and 3 little brothers that love her very much.
2 years ago, just weeks before the unveiling of her Little Library on Linden our sweet 9 year old granddaughter Ady was airlifted to the LR Children’s Hospital in ketoacidosis and spent several nights in ICU, it was a life-threatening way for our family to discover that she had developed Type 1 Diabetes.
Ady, now 11, is a trouper and with the vigilant help of her parents she does a outstanding job managing her diabetes with diet and insulin. However, just last week, after diabetic kids camp Adyson had several days of extreme highs- over 300 and her first treacherous low- 37. As kids with Type 1 Diabetes go through a body change such as puberty, sickness or even extra physical exercise, their blood sugars can rapidly go out of control resulting in coma and death. Often these dangerous lows occur in the middle of the night. These crazy changes in blood sugar can be unpredictable even to the most watchful eye. However, Diabetic Alert Dogs (DADs) are specially trained to sense these impending lows and can alert the family of a crisis an hour before it occurs. These dogs go with the child everywhere she goes, and sleep with her and if her blood sugar starts to drop dangerously low, the dog sounds the alert, saving her life.
The Lord placed it on my heart to get a diabetic alert dog for Ady. The company that will be supplying the D.A.D. only uses rescue dogs. So in addition to helping Ady, you will be contributing to the quality of life of not just one, but two. The total cost is $8800 with includes tax and the dogs are located in Nebraska. It takes 18 months to receive your D.A.D. once the deposit is paid. I put up the deposit of $1500 today leaving a balance of $7100.
I felt it was right for me to start a Funding Campaign as many love Ady and some may be blessed by an opportunity to bless her. And thank you for your support. Please do not feel obligated to give just because you are our friends. The Lord will provide, let Him speak to you as to whether you can help or not. And either way God Bless You!
