Texarkana FYI: Top Bars & Nightlife in Texarkana

Texarkana’s nightlife scene is a unique mix of local watering holes, relaxed music venues, and one wildly popular dance hall that stays busy almost every weekend. Whether you’re looking for a laid-back drink, a place to catch live music, or a full-blown night out, here are the Top Bars & Nightlife Spots in Texarkana based on local buzz and recent reviews.

    1. The Eagle Bourbon Bar (Downtown Texarkana)

One of the newest and most talked-about additions downtown, The Eagle Bourbon Bar has quickly become Texarkana’s go-to spot for premium bourbon, craft cocktails, and an upscale-but-relaxed vibe. The atmosphere leans adult, classy, and comfortable — great lighting, good music, and a rotating list of quality pours. Locals say it’s the kind of place downtown has needed for years. Perfect for dates, small groups, or just a quiet drink after work.

    2. Hopkins Icehouse

A downtown staple for years. Hopkins offers a large beer selection, dependable bar food favorites, and frequent live music. Whether it’s a weeknight hangout or a Saturday night show, the place stays reliably busy. A big favorite for locals looking for something relaxed and unpretentious.

    3. Redbone Magic Brewing Co.

Part brewery, part live-music hub. Redbone has built a strong following for its craft beer, pizza, comedy nights, and regular concerts. It’s one of Texarkana’s most active evening spots, especially for people wanting a casual, social atmosphere with entertainment.

    4. Fat Jacks Oyster Sports Bar

Texarkana’s most famous dive-bar-that’s-not-really-a-dive. Fat Jacks is a true institution — ice-cold drinks, live bands, karaoke, Cajun food, and a crowd that mixes every age and background in town. If you want “classic Texarkana nightlife,” this is the place.

    5. Whiskey River Country (Texarkana’s Favorite Nightclub)

By far Texarkana’s most popular nightclub, Whiskey River Country brings the full honky-tonk meets modern dance-hall experience. Big dance floor, DJs, two-stepping, high-energy crowds, and late-night weekends that go until the lights come on. If you want the “go big or go home” version of Texarkana nightlife, Whiskey River is the crown jewel.

    Honorable Mentions

    • The Hideout — Play and party, friendly downtown favorite

    • 1923 Banana Club – cool speak easy in the downtown underground
    • The Wild Hare — great drinks and game-day atmosphere

    • Cheers of Texarkana – was the Arrow Bar, great for beer and Pool

If another bar or local hangout is making waves, we’ll gladly shine a spotlight on it — just send it our way!

After more than 40 years with commercial broadcasting, I decided to do my own thing by blogging, and taking "unconsultant" gigs. It affords me the ability to stay super involved in the community, but still, have plenty of time with my 3 granddaughters and other projects.
