Saturday, December 12, 2018, the Texarkana Museums System will be hosting “Musical Highlights Bus Tours” of Texarkana. From Ragtime to Boogie, and from Blues to Rock, learn about musical roots of the region this weekend.

    Event Page:

Book your Musical Highlights Tour with the Texarkana Museums System and enjoy a narrated bus ride through some of the honky tonkin’, jazz playin’ and boogie woogien’ highlights that our fine little town has produced.

Texarkana is the home town of a variety of important figures in American music history. From “Father of Ragtime,” Scott Joplin to the legendary Otis Williams, Texarkana has produced some of the music industry’s biggest stars. TMS tour guides will take you on a drive through the areas where these important music makers lived and performed.

Guests will board the tour bus at the Museum of Regional History, 219 N. State Line Avenue in Historic Downtown Texarkana, USA. Tours at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Refreshments will be served at the Museum of Regional History.

Reserve your seat now! Tickets are $15 per person. Tickets on sale through our website, www.texarkanamuseums.org, or click the link below. For more information or directions, please call the Museum of Regional History at 903-793-4831.

A special “Thank You” to John Tennison for his continued support researching & documenting the music history of our region and acting as consultant for destinations and details included on this tour.

After more than 40 years with commercial broadcasting, I decided to do my own thing by blogging, and taking "unconsultant" gigs. It affords me the ability to stay super involved in the community, but still, have plenty of time with my 3 granddaughters and other projects.
