Texarkana Texas Police have arrested LeGus Holloway, 69, of Texarkana Texas after a woman picked him up while walking, and turned him into police at the Bi-State Justice Building this afternoon.
LeGus Holloway was the man identified in a viral video of a 6-month-old pitbull puppy being strangled, struck, then violently slammed to the concrete at the end of a leash. Calls for justice have been sent to TTPD from all over the world after the video of the incident spread around the world on Facebook. At one point, so many comments were coming so fast that TTPD was forced to temporarily turn off the ability for the public to comment on their Facebook Page.
TTPD Press Release:
The Texarkana Texas Police Department arrested LeGus Holloway after a woman drove him to the Bi-State Criminal Justice Center under false pretenses.
A woman walked into the Bi-State Criminal Justice building earlier this afternoon and told officers that LeGus Holloway, 69, of Texarkana Texas was waiting in her car in front of the building. She said that she had seen him walking in the Leary area and stopped to give him a ride. She then convinced him that she needed to go by the jail to put money on an inmate’s account before she could take him to his destination. Officers found Holloway sitting in her vehicle waiting on her to return. He was taken into custody without incident and taken to the Bi-State Jail.
An arrest warrant for Halloway was issued on Monday after a video surfaced online last weekend that showed him viciously abusing a pit bull puppy outside of a Texarkana residence. The video went viral and garnered attention from across the nation and around the world. The puppy’s owner took it to a local veterinary clinic for treatment on Sunday evening, where it was determined that it had suffered a broken leg. Judge Sherry Jackson issued an order on Tuesday seizing the dog pending the outcome of a court hearing on November 28.
Holloway is charged with Cruelty to Non-Livestock Animals, which is a felony. Bond has not yet been set in this case.
