Three of Texarkana’s local eateries have some big changes happening at the end of August. Silver Star Smokehouse will also be home to your favorite Monjuni’s dishes and of course those delicious Buttercup Cupcakes.
The Texarkana, Arkansas location of Monjuni’s Italian Cafe and Buttercups Cupcakes on 51st Street will be closing its doors on August 28, 2023, and moving into the recently remodeled Silver Star Smokehouse on West Park Boulevard in Texarkana, Texas. The plan is to re-open the menus of each on Monday, September 11. There’s a brutally honest reason for this move, coming up.
All three are owned by the same company out of Shreveport. This is the third time they have opened the Monjuni brand in Texarkana. The menu and the market items will be available inside Silverstar Smokehouse and Buttercups will have their display near the entrance.
What this does is put all three under the same roof at 5202 West Park Boulevard in Texarkana, Texas over by the new Wadley Hospital Construction site.
When living in Shreveport, going to get Muffalettas at Monjunis was a weekly thing. Now, Steaks, Ribs, Mannicotti, Muffatlettas, and Cupcakes… all at the same place!!

Monjunis is moving into the Silver Star smokehouse location so you will be able to get both menus. The taxes on Arkansas side are so high that it just doesn’t make sense for any business to be there. We have a great following and the locals love us. It is 12.25% on the Arkansas side and 8.25% in Texas. It just doesn’t make any sense.
Hopefully, we get a handle on the “cents” of some of these factors and build Texarkana, Arkansas too!
