Texarkana Talks – Meeting Jay Ellington the Arkansas Side City Manager

We had an opportunity to sit down with Texarkana Arkansas City Manager, Jay Ellington and discuss a number of topics including the Animal Shelter, the new energy creating the growth of the downtown entertainment district, and a bunch more.

Jay stopped by the library for a visit this week and touched on a number of topics of interest to the community, including the work going on with the Texarkana Animal Shelter. We also discussed the efforts that are driving the new downtown as a destination that is creating tax revenue to support the city.

There is one block in downtown Texarkana Arkansas that is generating more tax income in a month than all of the arts and history sales combined last year. There is new growth on the way in that area. We discuss the new staff and mission of the Texarkana Animal Shelter and the Adoption Center, roads, and dilapidated properties across the city, and he shares his thoughts and plans with us.

Jay comes to Texarkana from Ruston, Louisiana and he was in Corpus Christi, Texas before that. Ellington has a track record of success and it is a good thing to have him working for the citizens of Texarkana, Arkansas.

We encourage anyone with any questions at all to contact Jay Ellington, he really does have an open door policy and is wanting everyone’s feedback. Stop by City Hall, he is brewing coffee.

After more than 40 years with commercial broadcasting, I decided to do my own thing by blogging, and taking "unconsultant" gigs. It affords me the ability to stay super involved in the community, but still, have plenty of time with my 3 granddaughters and other projects.
