Texarkana Texas City Manager John Whitson is set to retire in early 2018. The city council will be meeting Friday afternoon to take steps to begin the search.

The meeting scheduled for Friday, August 4 at 5:30, the city council will take care of two items. First, is making an amendment to City Manager John Whitson’s contract to add an end date. The second item to be addressed on Friday’s agenda is to allow the naming of an interim city manager to take effect immediately upon approval.

Texarkana Texas Mayor Bob Bruggeman says these action items come as a result of a discussion between Whitson and the council and that more information will be available on Friday following the meeting.
