The Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter #278 will host the 43rd Annual Texarkana Memorial Day Service on Monday, May 25, 2026, at the Korea/Vietnam Memorial located at 7th Street and State Line Avenue.
The ceremony is scheduled to begin at 11:45 a.m. and will bring together veterans, families, community leaders, and residents from both sides of the state line to honor the men and women who gave their lives in service to the United States.
Organizers say the annual service is designed not only to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice, but also to recognize the families who carried that burden long after the battlefield fell silent.
For many veterans, Memorial Day carries a meaning far deeper than backyard cookouts or a long holiday weekend. It is a solemn reminder of friends lost in combat, empty seats at family tables, and generations of Americans who answered the call to defend freedom.
The Korea/Vietnam Memorial has long served as a place of reflection and remembrance for the Texarkana community, particularly for veterans of the Vietnam era who returned home from war to a divided nation. Over the years, the annual ceremony has grown into a respected local tradition dedicated to preserving the memory of those who never made it home.
Community members of all ages are encouraged to attend the service and help ensure the sacrifices of America’s fallen heroes are never forgotten.
As the organization’s message states:
“Come honor and remember those who gave the ultimate sacrifice while in service to this great country… Lest We Forget.”
