The city of Texarkana will honor local muralist Darlene Taylor in a special ceremony at City Hall on Monday, May 5, 2025, at 6:00 p.m., recognizing her outstanding contributions to the beautification and cultural enrichment of the community.
Known for transforming blank walls into vibrant reflections of local pride, history, and spirit, Taylor has become a driving force behind the public art movement in Texarkana. Her colorful, larger-than-life murals can be seen across the city, each one telling a unique story that resonates with residents and visitors alike.

“Darlene’s work doesn’t just add beauty—it adds identity,” said city officials. “She’s taken ordinary spaces and made them extraordinary. Her art invites people to stop, look, and feel a connection to Texarkana.”
The ceremony will take place inside Texarkana Arkansas City Hall, where the public is invited to join city leaders, community members, and fellow artists in celebrating Taylor’s achievements.
Whether highlighting historical landmarks, paying tribute to local heroes, or simply adding a splash of creativity to a once-forgotten alley, Taylor’s murals have become symbols of community pride and imagination.
Monday’s event will not only showcase her past work but also celebrate the transformative power of public art in building a more colorful and connected Texarkana.
