Things are heating up in the Ark-La-Tex this weekend as the 15th Annual Best Salsa in the Ark-La-Tex Competition returns to the Texarkana Farmers Market. The event kicks off at 9:00 a.m. this Saturday, August 2, at 500 N. Stateline Avenue, and promises a flavorful morning full of spice, community, and friendly competition.
Dozens of local salsa makers from across the region are preparing to bring their best blends—ranging from smoky to sweet, mild to mouth-scorching—in hopes of earning the coveted title of Best Salsa in the Ark-La-Tex.
Eventgoers will have the opportunity to sample all entries and vote for their favorites, making this not only a competition, but also a crowd-powered taste test of some of the freshest, most vibrant salsas around.
“This event gets bigger and better every year,” said a market representative. “It’s not just about salsa—it’s about celebrating local food, culture, and the people who make it special.”
In addition to the salsa competition, the Farmers Market will feature local vendors offering fresh produce, handmade goods, and other farm-fresh treats.
Whether you’re a salsa snob, a spice lover, or just looking for a fun way to spend your Saturday morning, the Texarkana Farmers Market is the place to be this weekend.
Admission is free and open to the public. Be sure to get there early—taste testing starts at 9:00 a.m. sharp, and once the salsa’s gone, it’s gone!
