Anna Mae Funderburk will be celebrating her 107th birthday on Tuesday. We have been asking on Facebook if anyone in town was older, and are now thinking this might just make Ms. Funderburk Texarkana’s oldest resident.
Anna Mae was born in 1913 and is currently residing at Reunion Plaza. We just hate it that they are on lockdown at that facility and we were unable to get a video with her before her birthday. We spoke with her daughter in law Polly Alexander about Ms. Anna Mae. Ms. Alexander said she could describe her in one work “AMAZING”.
Anna Mae and her son Joe. Joe Alexander passed away in 2019 at the age of 86.
Anna Mae was the baby of 5 kids and has been blessed with one child, the late Joe Alexander, five grandchildren, and 7 great-grandkids. She worked for 20 years on the line at Day & Zimmerman. Ms. Funderburk attributes her long life to “Hard Work”. She has worked hard all of her life, in fact, she still rearranges the furniture in her room weekly, when her family will let her get away with it. She gets her self up every day and is very meticulous about her appearance and always dresses to impress.
