The 6th Annual MLK Jr. Day Celebration Parade takes place at 11:30 am on Monday, January 17 in downtown Texarkana. The parade route is shortened a bit and will use Front Street, take a look here.

This year’s parade features the theme “We are Conquerors by Faith”. and will kick off on Broad Street at 11:30 am, the parade will take an immediate left onto Front Street, travel on in front of the Front Street Plaza stage, then take a right onto Olive Street at the railcar. The parade will then continue up Olive Street and merge into Stateline Avenue. The parade will take an immediate right onto 4th Street and continue to Hazel where the parade will turn right and continue back and end at the American Legion Building.

Sponsored by Bridging the Gaps of Arkansas, we are hoping to see a large turnout of spectators, and there is still time for your civic group or organization, church groups, or clubs to get involved as a participant. We talk to organizer Brandon Houff. To contact him, email brandonhouff1@gmail.com or call 903.417.2342.

After more than 40 years with commercial broadcasting, I decided to do my own thing by blogging, and taking "unconsultant" gigs. It affords me the ability to stay super involved in the community, but still, have plenty of time with my 3 granddaughters and other projects.
