These Last Days of Cattleman’s Restaurant in Texarkana [VIDEO]

We were fortunate to sit and talk with Joe and Cash Oliver about these final days of Cattleman’s Restaurant in Texarkana. The doors will close for good on March 5. We talk a bit about the history of Texarkana’s oldest restaurant, and what’s to come.

Roy Oliver opened Cattleman’s Restaurant in 1964 back when its current location was outside of the Texarkana City Limits. Joe took over the business, and a few years back his son, Cash took over more of the operations letting Joe “semi-retire”… though he is the type that is going to stay busy.

Joe tells us that the owners of the “Loca Luna” restaurants have purchased the building and all equipment and expect that is what they will be moving into the Stateline location, but no idea when. While we were there the phone rang constantly with people making reservations to eat at Cattleman’s one more time, so if that is something you are wanting to do, you better call soon… 870.774.4481.

After more than 40 years with commercial broadcasting, I decided to do my own thing by blogging, and taking "unconsultant" gigs. It affords me the ability to stay super involved in the community, but still, have plenty of time with my 3 granddaughters and other projects.
