A Saturday accident on interstate 30, just past the Mandeville exit involved a semi-truck traveling in the Eastbound lane that crashed into a concrete barrier and caught fire. The blaze shut down the highway most of the day and backed traffic up as far as Stateline Avenue in Texarkana.
The truck, transporting auto parts, was a total loss, but the driver escaped unharmed.
This was just one of a number of recent accidents near the same location. With construction projects on that stretch of highway, and the bridge construction project over Red River near Fulton, Arkansas, there has been a plague of traffic accidents and incidents. So many that stalled traffic flow has become almost too common.
