COVID 19 Curfew for Texarkana in Effect Immediately Until Further Notice


In the address to the public from the Joint Operations Center, it was announced that a new curfew is in effect for all citizens from 10:00 pm to 6:00 am and will be enforced by the police in both Texarkana Arkansas and Texas. There are some exceptions, but very few.

Texarkana Texas Mayor Bob Bruggeman made the announcement with the support of Texarkana Arkansas Mayor Allen Brown. Mayor Bruggeman said the curfew is for all residents and will be from 10:00 pm to 6:00 am. Exceptions being, traveling to and from work, seeking medical attention, or traveling to and from a pharmacy for medical necessity. Mayor Bruggeman went on to say,

If you are out and about during the curfew hours, you will be stopped and questioned. You will be escorted home and will face consequences if you are found in violation.

It was also announced that all hair and nail salons, along with tattoo shops in Texarkana Texas and Arkansas must close for business by 11:59 pm Thursday, March 26.

Joint Operations Center LIVE: COVID-19 Update for 03/25/20Here's a summary of the Mayors' message.In an effort to help control the spread of the COVID-19 virus in our community:There is now a mandatory curfew for everyone from 10p to 6a every night. The only exceptions are if you are travelling to and from work, the hospital, or the pharmacy. This is effective immediately.All hair salons, barber shops, nail salons, and tattoo studios inside Texarkana Texas must close by 11:59 p.m. on Thursday, March 26.The City is suspending the issuance of itinerant vendor permits and revokes all those that have been already issued. This relates to door to door sales.We strongly encourage everyone to limit their face to face interaction with others. Gatherings are limited to groups of not more than 10 people. You should practice social distancing and wash your hands frequently.These same rules apply to both Texarkana Texas and Texarkana Arkansas.
