    Deputy Arrested on Family Violence Charges

    A Bowie County Deputy has been arrested and charged with Assault with Bodily Injuries and transported to the Bi-State Jail. Stephen Powell, 38, of Texarkana Texas is employed as a deputy/bailiff with the Bowie County Sheriff’s Department.

    Media Release:

    The Texarkana Texas Police Department arrested Stephen Powell, 38, of Texarkana Texas for Assault with Bodily Injury – Family Violence today.  Powell is employed as a deputy/bailiff with the Bowie County Sheriff’s Office.

    Officers were dispatched to report of a disturbance at a residence in the 3800 block of Connie Lane at 7:44 this morning.  When officers arrived, the victim advised that Powell had struck her several times during an argument.  She had bruises and injuries to her face that were consistent with her account of the events.  Officers learned that the victim and Powell previously lived together in the house.

    Powell was arrested for Assault with Bodily Injuries and transported to the Bi-State Jail.  His bond has been set at $3,000.
