Approximately 6:00pm today 2 vehicles were involved in an accident on Highway 59 just north of the Domino Bridge. One of the drivers involved in the accident told us that the accident happened when he tried merging into the left hand lane causing the other vehicle (the white suv) to enter the median before crossing back into the highway and flipping twice before landing in the ditch. At least one person was transported from the scene to a local hospital. This is the second major accident in two days at this location.  

Jon Paul Russell has passed away earlier today from injuries he sustained from a fight at local night club, Electric Cowboy. There has been a benefit set up to assist his family. Approx 6:45 p.m. this evening a major accident occurred on Hwy 59 at Domino causing traffic in the northbound lanes to come to a stand still. One of the drivers involved in the accident says that he was headed north on US 59. Coming out of the construction area, a white pick-up attempted to cross the the highway in front of him. On 09-08-15 Bowie County Deputies Russell Crawford and Lieutenant George Huggins were dispatched to check on the welfare of some dogs located in the 1600 block of County Road 1116 Maud, Texas. When they arrived at this location, they found 14 deceased dogs and one living dog in kennels attached to a shop building. Lieutenant Huggins located one of the owners of the property, Kelley Crow, who gave him permission to look inside this shop. There Deputy Crawford and he found 10 additional deceased dogs. At approx 12:00 Noon today, a two vehicle accident occurred on Hwy 59 just north of Kings Hwy (in front of Sonic). An eye witness tells us that the person driving the red truck pulled out into the intersection, but that the bed of the truck was still in the left lane blocking traffic when the gold colored car approached. The driver of the gold car locked up the breaks in order to avoid the accident but was unable to do so. Do you know this woman? She used a stolen credit card to make purchases last Friday at a business in the 1400 block of Stateline Avenue. The card was taken in a vehicle burglary that happened downtown on the Arkansas side on Thursday evening while the victim enjoyed the Clydesdale Horse Parade with her two grandchildren. A 10,000 reward is being offered by the victim of a home invasion for the return of a 3 ring binder containing antique car titles. Jimmy Blackburn, owner of Blackburn Auto, says the robbery took place Wednesday August 26, 2015 at his home in North Texarkana TX. Several items were stolen along with the binder. Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of the binder should call 903-278-7399. Mr. Blackburn stated he has no interest in pressing charges if the titles are returned. At approximately 8 a.m. Texarkana Texas police department, Fire Department, and EMT personnel responded to a major accident on 7th street in front of Kmart. Traffic was slow in the area due to two lanes being closed while the first responders tended to the victims of the accident. One woman was transported to the hospital.

Approximately 10:45 a.m. Maud and Redwater first responders were called out to a major accident due to a head on collision at hwy 67 at hwy 8 in Maud Tx. Texas DPS and Bowie County Sheriffs were on scene to direct the flow of traffic away from the accident . No one was seriously injured in the accident. I spoke to one of the drivers involved who said that he was okay and had only sustained a couple of bruises.

Every once in a while I come across something in national news that I feel hots home to me personally or has relevance to our area. At approximately 8:15 AM Texarkana Texas fire department, LEVFD, Bowie County Sheriffs, and EMS responded to a tanker truck that had rolled over on the on-ramp to get onto the loop. The tanker truck was carrying grain. The driver was out and walking around when I arrived on scene. There are no injuries reported at this time.

At approximately 6:30 p.m. this evening LEVFD, Bowie County Sheriff, Texas DPS, and EMS personnel responded to it to vehicle accident at the intersection of highway 59 and Kings Highway. At least one person has been transported to the hospital for treatment of injuries due to this accident.

On August 3rd, a 76 year old woman accidentally walked off and left her wallet laying on the counter of the customer service desk at the Neighborhood Walmart on Summerhill Road. The woman in the blue blouse was in line behind the elderly lady. When she saw the wallet laying there, she put it in her purse rather than saying something to the lady walking away to whom it obviously belonged. She left the store in the vehicle shown that was driven by the woman wearing the orange shirt – who may or may not have known about the wallet.…
