Earlier today I was contacted by a casting rep. from MTV. Apparently, they are looking to do another reality based show where they find people (or someone) from the Texarkana Area with extremely messy rooms and offering them a room make over. Information from the MTV website shows that they are seeking people who fit the following profile: “We are searching the U.S. for 18-27 year olds who live in extremely dirty or messy rooms! – Is your room full of junk, clutter, clothes and filth? – Does your roommate, partner or parent think you live like a slob? –…

With more rain expected to fall tonight, the mighty Red River is expected to rise once again. The massive amounts of rain that we have recently received had already caused the river to rise to a point where bridges had to be closed, causing many people to find alternate routes in and out of the Texarkana Area. With water already standing on the southbound bridge and a high chance of rain tonight that may continue into the early part of tomorrow, the northbound bridge will be closely monitored. At around noon today, the Texarkana Texas Police Department released the following statement via…

6-23-2015 Just before 9 pm Tuesday evening, a man was driving south on US Highway 59 when his car suddenly caught on fire. The driver tells me, he quickly stopped the vehicle (in the center/turn lane) and got out and away from the vehicle. When LEVFD arrived on scene, the Cadillac was engulfed in flames. The firemen put the fire out and redirected traffic to avoid any further accidents. No one was injured in this accident. Photos from the scene below:

At about 6:30 pm on 6-22-2015 I heard a call come over the scanner that said that a bus had rolled over and was on fire at the Arkansas Welcome Center at Mandeville, Arkansas (around exit 7 off of I-30). When I arrived on scene, I saw a Penske Moving Truck on its side. I was able to speak to the driver of the truck. He told me that as he was exiting to the rest area he felt a change in the truck (possibly a shift in the load). The driver then told me that he tried to correct the…

A truck with an oversize load is supposed to get to here tonight at about 9:00 and it is expected to take eight hours to travel through Texarkana. It will come on W. 7th Street and eventually continue on its journey out of the city travelling north on Stateline Avenue. The truck and its load will have to take the path shown on the map here. Due to its size, we know that some power lines along the path will have to be temporarily removed by SWEPCO crews to allow it to pass so some people will experience power outages.…

This summer Orange Leaf Frozen Yogurt is doing a “build your own sundae” promotion. This gave me the opportunity to check out this weeks spotlighted creation, The Classic Banana Split. I’ve loved banana splits since I was a little boy, so doing a review like this just excites me. It totally brings out the kid in me! Janet Bolls, the owner at our local Orange Leaf Frozen Yogurt, told me that (for sanitary reasons) when someone wants bananas cut up for a banana split that their staff will gladly assist take care of this for you. For my Banana Split,…

6-18-2015 The FBI Released the following press release. The Texarkana Texas Police Dept. (TTPD) needs to identify the three following individuals. These subjects were involved in a convenience store burglary at the EZ Mart in the 5600 block of Summerhill Rd at 4:30 a.m. yesterday morning. The two men broke the glass out of the front door and stole several cartons of cigarettes. While the female did not go in the store, TTPD knows that she was with the two men only a few minutes before this burglary happened. If you recognize any of them, please call the TTPD at 903-798-3116 or CrimeStoppers at 903-793-STOP.

At about 3 pm today Texarkana Police, Fire  and EMT personnel worked a three vehicle accident on Stateline Avenue. The accident caused traffic backups on the Arkansas side of the line. The extent of injuries are unknown to us at this time. Photos from the scene:

Looks like we should start seeing rain from one of the bands of Tropical Depression Bill to start around 3 pm today and is likely to continue to bring scattered showers and thunderstorms for the next 24 hours. Weather.com radar maps show the storm to be over the DFW area at this time. For up to the minute updates you can use this link. Weather information obtained in this weather report comes from weather.com

Anyone recognize either of these two women? We could sure use your help on this one. They were involved in a theft at Ultra Beauty on June 1st. If you recognize one or both of them, please let us know who they are by calling 903-798-3116 or CrimeStoppers at 903-793-STOP. If you don’t know them, you can still help out by sharing the post. Pretty sure that someone out there knows who they are. Source: The TTPD Facebook page

About 9:30 am today, a man pulling a trailer loaded with a John Deer tractor lost control of his vehicle and ended up flipping the trailer over. No one was injured in his accident. I was able to speak with the driver of this accident. He told me that he was traveling at 35 mph when the trailer began to sway back and forth and then he lost control and the trailer turned over. You can see the tire marks in the grass in this photo showing where he left the roadway. More photos of this accident below:

At about 9 am this morning TTPD, TAFD, and LifeNet were called out to an injury accident at Texas Blvd and 7th Street. This accident had closed two lanes of traffic on Texas blvd going into downtown. I interviewed an eye witness that said he was driving behind the full sized pick-up truck that ran a red light and T-boned a small compact car. The woman that was driving the car was taken to a local hospital via ambulance, but did not appear to have any life threatening injuries. The occupants of the truck were two elderly people, a man…

TEXARKANA, Texas – Beginning today, uninsured motorists operating their vehicle within the city limits of Texarkana, Texas may have their vehicle towed if stopped by Texarkana, Texas police officers. This follows a one month grace period in which officers gave warnings to those who would have been impacted by the new ordinance. Texarkana, Texas officials are optimistic that the number of drivers operating without insurance will decline not only within the city, but the county as well. In 2014 Texas side officers issued over 2,600 citations for no insurance, which amounts to more than seven violations per day. Not every…

6-13-2015 At about 2 pm Saturday afternoon TAPD and TAFD responded to a fire at chapel ridge apartments. I spoke to the resident of the apartment who told me that a grease fire had started on her stove. The small fire was quickly extinguished and no one was hurt in the fire. Photos below:

It has been reported by the Texarkana Texas Police Dept that someone cut up and bent the flags that had been put out in the 3400 block of W. 7th Street for Flag Day at some point last night. It is my personal opinion that the disrespectful person(s) involved in the desecration of our nation’s flags should pray that an officer of the law catches up to them before one of the many war veterans we have here locally. TTPD would very much like to give whoever did this the chance to explain their actions to the judge. If you…

Approximately 1:20 p.m. today a major accident was reported at 213 mile marker on I 30. Officers on scene told me that there was a heavy downpour that caused a woman to hydroplane and run off the road. The driver was taken to the hospital via ambulance to be checked out as she was complaining of chest pain. This accident caused a large backup of traffic on the eastbound lane of I 30, so if you were coming into the Texarkana area by way of New Boston, this was what caused the traffic issues.
