Texarkana native Joscelyn Roberson, 18, is set to join the USA women’s gymnastics team as an alternate for the Paris Olympics. Her exceptional performance at the Olympic trials in Minneapolis, particularly her standout floor routine, earned her this prestigious position.

Roberson’s journey mirrors that of fellow Texarkana native Jarrion Lawson, who is also bound for Paris for his second Olympics. Both athletes come from Texarkana and Roberson will be attending the University of Arkansas in the fall. Lawson, a 2016 UA graduate, continues to bring pride to East Texas on the global stage.

The complete women’s gymnastics team for the 2024 Paris Olympics includes:

    • Simone Biles
    • Suni Lee
    • Jordan Chiles
    • Jade Carey
    • Hezly Rivera
    • Joscelyn Roberson (alternate)
    • Leanne Wong (alternate)

The 2024 Olympic Games will be held from Friday, July 26, to Sunday, August 11. As Roberson and Lawson prepare to represent their hometown and nation, their achievements are a significant source of pride for Texarkana.

After more than 40 years with commercial broadcasting, I decided to do my own thing by blogging, and taking "unconsultant" gigs. It affords me the ability to stay super involved in the community, but still, have plenty of time with my 3 granddaughters and other projects.
