Texarkana Police Seeking Murder Suspect from Weekend Shooting

The Texarkana Texas Police Department is seeking Takyme Devon James, 39, of Texarkana Texas, following the fatal shooting of Tony Sanders, 51, of Texarkana Texas, on Sunday evening. This suspect is considered armed and dangerous.

TTPD Media Release:

We searching for Takyme Devon James, 39, of Texarkana Texas, following the fatal shooting of Tony Sanders, 51, of Texarkana Texas, on Sunday evening.

Officers were dispatched to the report of a shooting at a residence in the 3600 block of Jones Street at 9:52 last night. When we arrived, Sanders’ wife directed us inside the house where we found Sanders laying on the floor, suffering from a single gunshot wound to his right hip. The officers immediately provided first aid to him. Sanders was transported to Wadley Regional Medical Center by LifeNet EMS, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

According to witnesses, James and Sanders were involved a fight earlier in the day over a bet on a football game. James later came to Sanders’ home, kicked open the front door, and shot Sanders once with a handgun. James fled the scene in a vehicle prior to the officers’ arrival.

An arrest warrant for Murder was issued for James early this morning. He is considered armed and dangerous.
