The 41st Annual Texarkana Christmas Parade brought holiday cheer to downtown Monday night, even as temperatures dipped into the 30s.
The parade, which was originally scheduled for December 5, had been rescheduled due to earlier weather concerns. While the chilly conditions kept some participants at home — including several local high school marching bands — the turnout from floats, organizations, and spectators proved that Christmas spirit in Texarkana is tough to freeze out.
This year’s shortened parade route appeared to concentrate crowds, with many spectators gathering near the Bi-State Building and along Stateline Avenue near the judges’ stage, creating a packed and energetic atmosphere downtown.

Parade commentary was provided by Darlene Taylor and Jeff Easterling from the rooftop of the Hideout on Broad Street, guiding viewers and livestream audiences through the many floats and participants that rolled through downtown. Despite the cold, there were numerous floats, community groups, and participants, along with a strong showing of spectators lining the route. (Main Street sent us the line-up at 6pm, and in alphabetical order… we tried.)
While temperatures may have played a role in limiting band participation, organizers and attendees alike agreed the evening was a success — proving that even cold weather couldn’t dampen the holiday excitement.
