Texarkana Police responded to a call of a dog attacking a child in the 1600 block of W. 21st Street. Officer discovered a pit bull dog with a 1-year-old baby in its mouth. Police Shot and killed the dog, and the baby is in critical condition.

At 6:32 tonight, we received a call of a child who was being attacked by a dog at a residence in the 1600 block of W. 21st Street. When officers arrived, they found a pit bull dog with a one year old girl in its mouth. Officers shot twice and killed the dog.
The girl was immediately transported to Christus St. Michael Hospital where she is in critical condition. She is being flown to Arkansas Children’s Hospital.
The dog was a family pet and was chained in the yard when it attacked the child.
Detectives are investigating the incident and interviewing family members.
