Liberty Elyau Baseball team has worked their way to the big game for the 2023 Texas Class 4A Texas State Championship after a victory over Canyon Randall on Wednesday. LE will take on China Spring at 6:30 pm in Austin on Thursday, June 9. We plan to stream the game here at TexarkanaFYI.com. (If we get UIL approval in time.)

On May 23, 2023, tragedy struck in Nash Texas with the loss of Reuben Olalde, his wife, and two of his children were murdered. Diana Olalde, Reuben’s older daughter survived and needs our help.
The suspect in the shooting on Lemon Acres in Nash Texas has been identified as 18-year-old Ceasar Olalde. The victims are believed to be family but have yet to be identified. The suspect is currently in Bi-State Jail charged with Capital Murder of Multiple Persons.
The Bowie County Sheriff’s Office is reporting that four individuals have been confirmed dead after a suspect barricaded themselves in a home on Lemon Acres Road in Nash Texas. The suspect eventually surrendered and is in custody.
On Saturday, July 22, 2023, Rodney Carrington returns to Texarkana with a performance at the historic Perot Theatre. One of the top country comics today, Rodney always has a super fun show with lots of extras.

C.J. Harris was a very special young man that spread love, kindness, and encouragement and since his tragic passing in 2021 at the age of 14, C.J. is still spreading love and kindness with the #BELIKECJ Foundation. A very special “Walk of Love” is planned for Saturday, May 20 on Front Street in downtown Texarkana. This free event is for EVERYBODY!

On Saturday, May 6 it is the Twice as Fine Texarkana Wine Festival at Spring Lake Park beginning at 11:00 am. This has been named Texarkana’s Favorite Event by the “highly affluent” and is the biggest fundraiser of the year for the Alzheimer’s Alliance Tri-State area.
The Texarkana Texas Police have identified the two men directly involved in the shooting of an 18-year-old TAMU-T Eagles Baseball Player over the weekend. Police are seeking Kamauri Butler (17) for Aggravated Assault and Demarco Banks (20) for Deadly Conduct. It is believed that they are the shooters in this incident.
The Bowie County Sheriff’s Office has issued a press release with details of the shooting involving Bowie County Constable, Randall Baggett that occurred on April 24, 2023. Texas Rangers are leading the investigation.
The Texarkana Texas Police Department is investigating a shooting near Spring Lake Park that left an 18-year-old Texas A&M Ball Player struck by what is believed to be a stray bullet from a nearby altercation. BSA officials made the decision to close down this year’s Scout-O-Rama due to the incident.
We sure hope the weather cooperates because there is a bunch to do this weekend. Out at Spring Lake Park, it is Scout-O-Rama 2023, the Fouke Monster Festival is happening in Fouke on Saturday, and a lot of great live music all weekend!

The National Professional Fishing League held their 3-Day tournament on Wright Patman this last weekend with pro anglers from around the country competing. For the event’s winner, Texarkana native Ryan Satterfield it was “A dream come true” to win his first NPFL Tournament on his home lake, and a nice little prize of $100,000!

Texarkana Arkansas Police report making an arrest at a local church after a Miden Louisiana man exhibited extremely suspicious behavior. After fighting with police it was discovered that the man had multiple firearms, ammo, and other weapons in his vehicle.
