Texarkana residents are encouraged to take a few minutes and fill out the 2020 Census. Data suggests that only about 55% of residents have responded so far. These numbers are needed to determine the distribution of
billions of dollars in federal funding each year across the nation. An undercount of the Texarkana population would mean less money for health care, education, and nutrition, as well as other local needs like fire departments, roads, housing, and more.
Organizers of the 44th Annual Hope Watermelon Festival have decided to cancel this year’s event. With COVID 19 numbers continuing to rise, a spokesperson for the Hope Chamber of Commerce said the decision was made out of our concern for the safety of the community and those that come from all over.

The University of Arkansas Hope/Texarkana will be hosting a free COVID 19 drive-thru testing this Saturday, June 20, from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm at Hempstead Hall on the Hope Campus.
