The Texarkana Texas Police Department is investigating a shooting at 2100 W. 17th Street just after 5:00 p.m. this afternoon. It is reported that victim is a juvenile and was transported to St. Michael’s Hospital.
A new event for Texarkana is sure to be a hit with kids, “Tinkerfest Texarkana” takes place on Saturday, May 20 at the Discovery Place Children’s Museum with 25 to 30 new hands-on stations inside and outdoors in downtown Texarkana.
It is the largest fundraising event for our local Randy Sam’s Outreach Shelter and takes place Thursday, April 20 from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., and as the many that support the annual “Cigars, ‘Tinis & Tunes” event will tell you, it is definitely one of the most fun events held in downtown Texarkana.
The Texarkana Texas Parks & Recreation department will be hosting a Spring basketball camp at Southwest Center in Texarkana, Texas on May 16. Cost for the clinic is free, but space is limited.
National Library week is April 9 – 15 and at Texas A&M University – Texarkana they will be celebrating with a week full of events including and “edible book” competition and a comic-con event on Thursday, April 13.

The Texarkana Texas Police Department has arrested the suspect in the Wednesday morning robbery of Bank of the Ozarks on Richmond Road. Dixon Kelly, 43, of Texarkana Arkansas is in custody and charged with Aggravated Robbery, Aggravated Assault on a Public Servant, Resisting Arrest and Evading Arrest in a Vehicle.
Texarkana Texas Police responded this morning to a robbery call at Bank of the Ozarks on Richmond Road in Texarkana Texas. After a vehicle pursuit, police have the suspect in custody.
