TEXARKANA, TX- The City of Texarkana, Texas will begin charging a revised fee schedule effective immediately after Monday night’s council meeting. The City Council voted unanimously to revise the fees in the regular council meeting on Monday, June 8th after a series of workshops last week. The fee list is reviewed annually and impacts the city’s revenue projections for the annual budget. The Texarkana Texas Police SWAT Team took Michael Jordan, 25, of Texarkana Arkansas, safely into custody early this morning following an almost four hour standoff in the 2200 block of Bell Street. TTPD was dispatched to the residence at 1:44 a.m. today after a 9-1-1 call was received where the homeowner said that Jordan had broken into his former girlfriend’s house and was armed with a handgun. Last Friday afternoon, TTPD answered a theft call at Walmart on New Boston Road where 31 boxes of laminate flooring intended for a renovation project in the store were reported stolen. We reviewed the surveillance video and were able to get a pretty good description of the vehicle used in the theft. TTPD was dispatched to a report of a stabbing at a residence in the 4100 block of Rio Grande Street at 6:00 a.m. on 7-13-2015. When we got there, we discovered 25 year old Kierrah Ellis with stab wounds to both his arm and shoulder area. Last night (7-12-15), at about 10:15 p.m., officers of the Texarkana Arkansas Police Department responded to a residence located in the 900 block of Ferguson Street in reference to a hit and run accident involving a pedestrian. Upon arrival, officers encountered an injured juvenile victim and several witnesses who provided the responding officers with additional information regarding the incident. On July 5, 2015, James Bradford reported a 2015 Kubota tractor valued at $42,000 stolen to the Bowie County Sheriff’s Office. Mr. Bradford said this tractor had been left on the side of Interstate 30 close to Farm to Market 561 on July 2, 2015 around 4:00 pm. When he returned to this same location on July 5, 2015 the tractor was gone. At about 8:00 p.m. this evening EMT, Police, And the LEVFD responded to the call of a motorcycle vs car accident at the intersection of 7th street and Kings Highway. Four people were transported to the hospital via ambulance to be checked out, although there did not appear to be any serious injuries. I briefly spoke to a woman who was the passenger of the motorcycle. She told me that when the accident happened that it threw her off of the bike and she went over the car. Traffic was backed up briefly due to lane closures.
