At about 9 am this morning TTPD, TAFD, and LifeNet were called out to an injury accident at Texas Blvd and 7th Street. This accident had closed two lanes of traffic on Texas blvd going into downtown. I interviewed an eye witness that said he was driving behind the full sized pick-up truck that ran a red light and T-boned a small compact car. The woman that was driving the car was taken to a local hospital via ambulance, but did not appear to have any life threatening injuries. The occupants of the truck were two elderly people, a man…

TEXARKANA, Texas – Beginning today, uninsured motorists operating their vehicle within the city limits of Texarkana, Texas may have their vehicle towed if stopped by Texarkana, Texas police officers. This follows a one month grace period in which officers gave warnings to those who would have been impacted by the new ordinance. Texarkana, Texas officials are optimistic that the number of drivers operating without insurance will decline not only within the city, but the county as well. In 2014 Texas side officers issued over 2,600 citations for no insurance, which amounts to more than seven violations per day. Not every…

6-13-2015 At about 2 pm Saturday afternoon TAPD and TAFD responded to a fire at chapel ridge apartments. I spoke to the resident of the apartment who told me that a grease fire had started on her stove. The small fire was quickly extinguished and no one was hurt in the fire. Photos below:

It has been reported by the Texarkana Texas Police Dept that someone cut up and bent the flags that had been put out in the 3400 block of W. 7th Street for Flag Day at some point last night. It is my personal opinion that the disrespectful person(s) involved in the desecration of our nation’s flags should pray that an officer of the law catches up to them before one of the many war veterans we have here locally. TTPD would very much like to give whoever did this the chance to explain their actions to the judge. If you…

Approximately 1:20 p.m. today a major accident was reported at 213 mile marker on I 30. Officers on scene told me that there was a heavy downpour that caused a woman to hydroplane and run off the road. The driver was taken to the hospital via ambulance to be checked out as she was complaining of chest pain. This accident caused a large backup of traffic on the eastbound lane of I 30, so if you were coming into the Texarkana area by way of New Boston, this was what caused the traffic issues.

Early yesterday morning at 4am, TAPD Patrol Officer Kyle Caudle was doing a close watch at Sugar Hill United Methodist Church and found a window shattered. The church was on “close watch” after a person, who had no affiliation with the Church, was found inside the building by Church staff the previous day. While waiting on additional police back-up, Officer Caudle heard what he believed to be someone inside the building. Once officers entered and searched the church, they located Adolphus Turner, a Black Male, approximately 40 years old inside. He was identified as the same individual that Church personnel had…
