As more and more of society opens back up, we are all encouraged to practice social distancing, wash hands well and often, and wear a face mask when possible.

The COVID 19 numbers in Texarkana remain steady with the pace of recoveries higher than the spread of infection. The local COVID 19 numbers are, Bowie County has 116 positive cases, 78 recoveries, and 11 deaths. Cass County has reported 26 cases with 20 recoveries, and Miller County last reported 42 positive cases, 1 death, and 37 recoveries.
Texarkana Texas Police are searching for two men suspected of stealing a 4-wheeler from a 9-year-old girl, causing her injuries. Police are searching for Jaquavion Williams, 18, and Daquavious Akkard, 19. If you have any information call 903-798-3116.
A headline was posted on social media claiming that Bowie County’s positive COVID 19 cases had increased by 20 in one day. That is because the TDHS has now added TDCJ cases to local counties. However, the Joint Operations Center will still maintain individual numbers for both populations.
Texas Governor Gregg Abbott has set directives for opening bars, breweries, bingo halls, and more in this next phase of reopening the Texas economy amid the COVID-19 pandemic. There will be restrictions on capacity, but little by little we gain some normalcy. Oh, Summer Camps and Little League is back on also!
The show must go on for the children of St.Jude’s according to Neal Jones, organizer of the Talimena Rally, one of the biggest annual motorcycle events in Texarkana. In the last 8 years, the ride has been able to raise more than $200,000. This year will have some restrictions, but the ride takes place this weekend.
