A Bowie County Deputy has been arrested and charged with Assault with Bodily Injuries and transported to the Bi-State Jail. Stephen Powell, 38, of Texarkana Texas is employed as a deputy/bailiff with the Bowie County Sheriff’s Department.
Work has begun on a new Taco Tico restaurant in Texarkana, located inside the building that housed “Subies Deli” at 4833 Texas Boulevard. Owners expect the restaurant to open in September.

The Miller County Sheriff’s Office and Arkansas State Police are investigating the in-custody death of an inmate. Anthony Corey Bradley, 47, of Texarkana, Arkansas was found unresponsive inside the Miller County Jail at approximately 5 pm on Sunday, June 8.

The Texarkana Texas Police Department reports that three people have been arrested in connection to a homicide that occurred in the early morning hours of July 7. Jacarie Sims, 24, Dequlain Sims, 22, and Jacoby Johnson, 18, all of Texarkana, Texas are being held in the Bi-State Jail.
The Texarkana Texas Police are investigating an overnight shooting that left one man dead, and a woman suffering from injuries. Police are seeking two suspects that fled the scene in a dark-colored SUV.

The Texas Department of Transportation has announced $82 million in grants to fund public transportation providers in rural, small urban and large urban areas of Texas. $346,224 has been earmarked for Texarkana, and the Tex Ark Council of Governments will be receiving $662,701.
