We had an opportunity to meet with Keyon Cooksey of Texarkana and discuss his Birria Style Creations and got so full that we had to take a nap. Do not confuse Chef Key’s Tacos with authentic Mexican by any means, he has put his own twist on the Birria Style of cooking with some downhome comfort food. Different, and delicious.

Bowie County reports a total of 493 positive COVID-19 cases, with 225 recoveries and 30 deaths. There are currently 238 active cases being traced in Bowie County. Cass County has a total of 90 cases with 48 recovered and two deaths. Cass County currently has 40 active cases. Miller County has a total of 336 cases, 251 recoveries, and 2 deaths. Miller is tracking 83 active cases.

Kendrick Sauls, 22, has been charged with intoxication assault after allegedly causing a horrible crash at the intersection of New Boston and Summerhill Roads last night that sent two people to a local hospital in serious condition.
It is with sad and sincere condolences for the family and friends of Correctional Officer Coy D. Coffman Jr. that we report his passing away after being admitted to a local hospital 0n April 17 with symptoms of the disease, a positive test result for COVID-19 returned on April 19. Officer Coffman succumbed to the illness on Sunday, April 26.
Adding Bowie, Miller, and Cass Counties together, the current number of confirmed positive COVID-19 cases stands at 133, and 7 deaths, with Miller County reporting their first COVID-19 related fatality today.

The Texarkana Joint Operations Center reports that positive cases of COVID-19 in our area continue to climb. Officially, Bowie County has 37 cases, Cass County has a total of 5 cases confirmed and 2 recovered, and Miller County has 18, for a total of 60.
The officials with the Bowie County and Cass County Joint Operations Center have released updated numbers for the area, including the number of cases considered “recovered”.
The Bowie & Cass Joint Operations Center issued a press release stating that an employee of a Cass County Nursing home has tested positive and measures authorities are taking.
The Texarkana Joint Operations Center reports that the current count of positive COVID-19 cases in Bowie County Texas is 22, with 5 recovered. The number of positive cases registered to Cass County is 4, with 2 recovered. Miller County’s last report was 8, giving a total of 34 positive cases in our area.
As we reported on our sister outlet KPGG-FM, Local Walmart stores began taking measures on Friday, April 3 with a “single-file policy” as the stores made preparations for a long-term battle to help stop the spread of COVID-19. Tomorrow, the stores begin limiting the number of customers allowed to shop at one time.
Senator John Cornyn announced today Texarkana Texas was awarded a $218,921 federal grant to help recover from the economic fallout of the novel coronavirus outbreak.
Texarkana Arkansas Mayor Allen Brown and Miller County Judge Cathy Harrison will address the media on Thursday at 2:00 pm, as they have now created a separate Emergency Operations Center to combat the spread of COVID-19.

Texarkana Texas Police have released more information regarding the overnight shooting involving a TTPD officer. Timothy Noble, 20, was shot by a patrol officer following a short foot pursuit. Noble allegedly produced a drum fed pistol before the officer fired his service weapon. Noble is in stable condition.
Bowie County Investigators report that Anthony Krebs, 41, and Leslie Harkins, 43, have been arrested after being found in possession of more than 1.5 ounces of suspected methamphetamine. Both have received drug and weapons charges.
The Texarkana Texas Police Department has arrested and charged Kavante Wright, 26, with Murder. Wright also had two outstanding warrants for probation violations. EricGentry, 35, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Miller County Deputies arrested Ryan Kent Walker, 30 of Texarkana, Arkansas and charged him with two Counts of Residential Burglary, multiple counts of Theft of Property, Firearms, and Criminal Mischief charges, all felonies. Walker was arrested when deputies responded to a series of 911 calls regarding a home burglary.
The Texarkana Texas Police Department reports that they are currently investigating a shooting at a local cosmetology school that has left one woman hospitalized and her attacker dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Such a tragic story for all involved in this terrible incident. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families. With more information today, charges for Kayden May, 18, have been reduced from second-degree murder to manslaughter in the death of his girlfriend, Abbigale Thacker, 18.

The Miller County Sherrif’s Office in conjunction with the Bi-State/8th South Judicial District Narcotics Task Force arrested Henry Hacker, 51, of Fouke Arkansas on various drug charges.
