The Bowie County Emergency Operations Center reports a total of 214 positive COVID-19 cases, with 100 recoveries and 13 related deaths. Cass County has a total 35 cases with 31 recoveries and two deaths. The Texas Department of Criminal Justice reports 1 active positive case at the Barry B. Telford Unit.

The University of Arkansas Hope/Texarkana will be hosting a free COVID 19 drive-thru testing this Saturday, June 20, from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm at Hempstead Hall on the Hope Campus.

In the early morning hours of June 11, 2010, a catastrophic flood struck the Albert Pike campgrounds on the Little Missouri River in Caddo Gap, Arkansas. 20 people lost their lives in the tragedy, many being just children. Today we remember the victims and continue to pray for their survivors.

Texarkana Texas Police and SWAT responded to a robbery suspect barricaded inside the Ridgewood Apartments this afternoon. After hours of trying to negotiate, Thomas Keene Jr, 23, surrendered to police and was taken into custody.

One of the biggest Barrel Racing events in the country takes place in Texarkana June 11-14 to benefit Texarkana’s Runnin’ WJ Ranch. 2,500 plus of the fastest racers on the circuit will be racing for the big prize money, and the event is free for spectators.

A Texarkana Texas Fire Department employee has been placed on administrative leave after sharing a racially charged comment on his personal Facebook Page. Upon learning of the post City Officials were quick to act and will be completely transparent with the public in further actions against the unidentified employee.
