“Movies in the Park” return on Thursday, June 18 with a showing of The Lion King. The event is free and concessions will be available to purchase or bring your own. Grab your lawn chairs, or a blanket, and some bug spray and head out to Spring Lake Park.

Cass County has a total of 34 cases with 31 recoveries and two deaths. The last report we saw from Miller County was 53 positive cases, 43 recoveries, and 1 death.

The Texarkana Texas Police have arrested Robert Moore, 40, of Texarkana Texas for his alleged role in the shooting death of Quentin Minniefield, 48, of Texarkana, Texas around 3:30 am this morning.

The Texarkana Texas Fire Fighter that was placed on administrative leave after a Facebook post brought a huge public response has accepted the punishment of a 90-day suspension without pay, he has agreed to five years without supervisory responsibilities and will complete 12 sessions of counseling focused on anger and bias issues before returning to work.

In the early morning hours of June 11, 2010, a catastrophic flood struck the Albert Pike campgrounds on the Little Missouri River in Caddo Gap, Arkansas. 20 people lost their lives in the tragedy, many being just children. Today we remember the victims and continue to pray for their survivors.

Texarkana Texas Police and SWAT responded to a robbery suspect barricaded inside the Ridgewood Apartments this afternoon. After hours of trying to negotiate, Thomas Keene Jr, 23, surrendered to police and was taken into custody.

The “2020 Divots for Disabilities” Golf Tournament to benefit the Temple Memorial Pediatric Center will take place on Monday, June 8 at the Texarkana Country Club. Here are more details.

One of the biggest Barrel Racing events in the country takes place in Texarkana June 11-14 to benefit Texarkana’s Runnin’ WJ Ranch. 2,500 plus of the fastest racers on the circuit will be racing for the big prize money, and the event is free for spectators.

A Texarkana Texas Fire Department employee has been placed on administrative leave after sharing a racially charged comment on his personal Facebook Page. Upon learning of the post City Officials were quick to act and will be completely transparent with the public in further actions against the unidentified employee.

This Saturday, June 6 is the perfect time to wet a hook. It’s “Free Fishing Day” in the state of Texas. That means you can fish on any public waters without a fishing license, but bag and size limits still apply so check this out.

Anna Mae Funderburk will be celebrating her 107th birthday on Tuesday. We have been asking on Facebook if anyone in town was older, and are now thinking this might just make Ms. Funderburk Texarkana’s oldest resident.

The University of Arkansas Hope-Texarkana began “Phase 2” of its re-opening plan as employees returned to their offices today.  As part of the return procedures, all UAHT employees will wear face masks and practice physical distancing, among other guidelines.

Travis Ransom, Mayor of Atlanta Texas, has announced his candidacy for the Republican nomination in Texas’ 4th Congressional District. The 4th District covers the entire area of northeast Texas, from Sherman to Texarkana to Rockwall and includes Greenville, Sulphur Springs, Paris, and Mount Pleasant.

A major construction project to rebuild Interstate 30 through Texarkana Texas will begin in July and last approximately 4 years. This will completely rebuild I-30 from Kings Highway in Nash to Stateline Avenue.
