Country music fans, get ready! On Saturday, August 17, 2024, Josh Ward, one of Texas’ rising stars in country music, will be performing at Whiskey River Country Club in Texarkana. Opening the night will be special guest Chad Miller, setting the stage for what promises to be an unforgettable evening.

The Texarkana Arkansas Police Department has announced the arrest of a suspect in connection with the recent homicide that has gripped the local community. On Wednesday, August 14, 2024, at 7:05 p.m., officers from the Criminal Investigation Division apprehended a 17-year-old suspect in Texarkana, Arkansas.

On Tuesday, August 13, 2024, Deputy Kendall Nichols of the Miller County Sheriff’s Office arrested Tony Potts on an outstanding felony warrant for theft of property exceeding $25,000. The warrant, issued by Miller County CID detectives, came after an investigation triggered by multiple complaints against Potts.

Historic Washington State Park is offering a unique glimpse into the past with a free chicken processing workshop on Saturday, August 17, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. The workshop, held at Sanders Barnyard, will demonstrate the traditional methods early settlers used to prepare chickens for cooking.

Authorities are on the hunt for 20-year-old Rondarrius Evans, who is wanted in connection with the tragic shooting deaths of two young men last month. The 5th District Court has issued two murder warrants for Evans in the fatal shootings of 19-year-olds Princeton Washington and Nicholas Webster, which occurred on July 6, 2024.

On the evening of Monday, August 12, 2024, at approximately 8:20 PM, officers from the Texarkana Arkansas Police Department responded to a tragic shooting in the 2500 block of E. 24th St. Upon arrival, officers found a victim suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite immediate efforts by TAPD officers and Texarkana Arkansas Fire Department (TAFD) personnel to administer life-saving measures, the victim sadly succumbed to his injuries.

On Sunday, July 14, 2024, at approximately 9:25 p.m., Hope Police officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 400 block of South Elm Street. Upon arrival, officers found a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg. The victim was transported to a local hospital and is currently in stable condition.

Space enthusiasts, get ready for an exciting month as the meteor shower season kicks off with some spectacular displays. On July 30, skywatchers will be treated to a double feature, with both the Delta Aquariids and Alpha Capricornids peaking that night. This rare occurrence will offer a chance to see a meteor every two minutes during the darkest hours, especially for those in southern latitudes.

A suspect in a deadly shooting has been apprehended following an intensive investigation and manhunt. On July 6, 2024, at approximately 5:42 p.m., the New Boston Police Department responded to a shooting call in the 300 block of N. Linsey St. Upon arrival, officers discovered two victims, both 19 years old. Nicholas Webster of Jefferson, Texas, was transported to the hospital in critical condition, while Princeton Washington of Linden, Texas, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
