After more than 40 years with commercial broadcasting, I decided to do my own thing by blogging, and taking "unconsultant" gigs. It affords me the ability to stay super involved in the community, but still, have plenty of time with my 3 granddaughters and other projects.

The Texas D.P.S. has released their Texas Gang Threat Assessment, which was developed to provide a broad overview and update of gang activity in Texas. The study states there are more than 100,000 active gang members in the state and that the ties between Texas gangs and Mexican cartels are still strong.

With the heat of summer, I remember the choices we had to cool off when I was younger. We had some public pools in Texarkana, but top of the list for many was swimming at “Crystal Springs Beach” near Maud, Texas on Highway 67. Long closed, but it is still there and we wanted to share some photos.

The good reverend Londell Williams passed away in his sleep Monday July 10. Reverend Williams made history in Texarkana Arkansas as the first African American to serve as Mayor, and as the longest-serving board member in the history of the city he loved devoting more than 37 years to his community.
